First Peoples Law LLP is seeking an experienced lawyer to join our growing team dedicated to defending and advancing the rights of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.

First Peoples Law is committed to defending and advancing Indigenous Peoples’ inherent and constitutionally protected title, rights and Treaty rights. Our objective is to play a meaningful role in Indigenous Peoples’ ongoing struggle for a more respectful and equitable world for themselves and their children.
With a team of 44, including 26 lawyers, we provide the highest-quality legal services to our clients on issues related to title and rights, governance and economic prosperity, while actively participating in public education initiatives. Our work includes providing representation and strategic advice to First Nations and Indigenous groups across Canada.

What We’re Looking For
We are seeking an experienced lawyer who shares our commitment to protecting and advancing the rights of Indigenous Peoples through high-quality legal representation with a focus on serving our clients in northern Canada.
The successful candidate will assume responsibility for a substantial book of existing work in northern Canada and will be considered for partnership track with the firm.
Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated, highly organized, creative, problem-solver with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and able to work independently.
The Lawyer will have the following qualifications:

called to the bar in Northwest Territories; British Columbia and Ontario calls are assets
a sense of humour
Description of Position
The Lawyer will work on a full-time basis out of the First Peoples Law office in either Ottawa or Vancouver. Full-time remote work may be considered, subject to the location of applicant.
Salary will be based on experience and qualifications.
