THE INDIGENOUS BAR ASSOCIATION CONGRATULATES NAOMI METALLIC ON HER APPOINTMENT AS KING’S COUNSEL
The Indigenous Bar Association in Canada (IBA) is proud to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Naiomi Metallic on her well-deserved appointment as King’s Counsel (KC), announced yesterday. This prestigious designation recognizes Ms. Metallic’s exceptional contributions to the legal profession and her tireless advocacy for Indigenous rights and justice.
A proud member of Listuguj Mi'gmaq Nation, Ms. Metallic is a change maker and role model for Indigenous lawyers across the country. As the Chair of Indigenous Law and Policy at Dalhousie University and a practicing lawyer, she has profoundly influenced the evolution of Canadian law by promoting the recognition of Indigenous legal orders and advancing systemic change.
Ms. Metallic served as a dedicated member of the IBA Board of Directors and has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to the advancement of Indigenous legal professionals. Her advocacy for access to justice continues to reflect the IBA’s mission to support Indigenous legal traditions and community.
