Central Coast Law is seeking an articling student

Central Coast Law is seeking an articling student to commence work at its office in the Heiltsuk First Nation community of Bella Bella for an articling term commencing during the spring or summer of 2023. Central Coast Law was established to provide comprehensive, affordable, and accessible legal services to people and organizations throughout the Central Coast of British Columbia including Bella Bella, Denny Island, Klemtu, Ocean Falls, Bella Coola, Rivers Inlet, and Wuikinuxv Village but is sought after by clients throughout the Province of BC.

Central Coast Law is owned by Daniel Bertrand who has been practicing law in British Columbia since 2012. Most of Central Coast Law’s current work is for First Nation governments, business and agencies, as well as the occasional logger or fisher. Daniel’s clients value his ability to provide legal advice that appreciates Indigenous values, and his ability to effectively communicate across cultural traditions.

This is an ideal position for an articling student who intends on living and working as a lawyer in an Indigenous community or rural area. The articling student should also be independent and resourceful, comfortable living in an indigenous and remote community, and have a strong motivation towards access to justice for marginalized communities.

More information about Central Coast Law and Daniel Bertrand can be found here: http://www.centralcoastlaw.ca/ and https://www.linkedin.com/in/dcbertrand/

Interested applicants can send a CV, transcripts, and a cover letter to office@centralcoastlaw.ca. Due to the large volume of past applications, only short-listed applicants will be contacted.
