Aboriginal Law / Indigenous Rights Associate
The Toronto office of Goldblatt Partners LLP is looking to expand our Aboriginal law and Indigenous rights practice group.
We work with Indigenous governments and individuals to advance and protect their Indigenous and treaty rights, and to build space for greater self-determination. The practice includes litigation at all levels of court and before administrative tribunals, consultation processes and negotiations with governments and proponents, and advice concerning governance and economic development matters.
We invite applications from lawyers called to the Ontario bar with between two and five years of experience to join our Aboriginal law practice group.
The successful candidate will have:
A record of academic excellence
Strong analytic, research and writing skills
A demonstrated interest in and familiarity with Indigenous rights, Aboriginal law and constitutional law, and
Availability to travel for work with Indigenous clients across Canada
The following will be considered assets:
Litigation experience
French language competency
Experience with contract drafting and/or knowledge of corporate and commercial law
