Part-time Law Student Researchers

Brief Description:

This position seeks part-time law student researchers to assist with the measurement and progress of ongoing revitalization of Indigenous laws in Ontario courts and tribunals and Indigenous communities. This work follows-up on the IBA’s Accessing Justice and Reconciliation initiative and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action. The research from these measurements aims to produce toolkits for both Indigenous communities and the legal profession to utilize when working with Indigenous peoples and laws.

Tasks:

  • Measuring the revitalization of Indigenous laws within Indigenous spaces
  • Researching the legal plurality of Indigenous laws in relation to common and civil law spaces, in particular courts
  • Assist in writing a report to the Indigenous Bar Association and Law Foundation of Ontario
  • Creating toolkits for Indigenous communities and Ontario courts and tribunals
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • JD Students: 1st, 2nd, and/or 3rd year

Location: Remote work with possibility of some travel

Salary: $18/hour
