Law Society of Ontario – Strategic Policy Counsel

The Strategic Policy Counsel, Indigenous Initiatives provides legal research, advice and  support for the policy-making responsibilities of the Law Society, particularly in the area of Indigenous matters, facilitating a coherent approach to policy development throughout the organization, and tackling issues that require creative, proactive and specialized strategic approaches. Strategic Policy Counsel thinks creatively to craft options for approaches to policy challenges, and acts as a resource in the area of Indigenous affairs, having in-depth understanding (local, national and international) regarding policy development and policy issues as relates to Indigenous matters.

You possess an LL.B. or J.D., or equivalent education and training. You have at least 8 years’ experience working for a professional governing body, government, post-secondary education organization or in legal practice, in relation to the Indigenous community. At least 5 of these years must have been in a position wherein you provided strategic policy advice.  Equivalent experience may be considered.
