Description: The Human Resources Consultant (the “Consultant”) will support the management of JFK Law Corporation in ensuring that the firm maintains a skilled, inclusive, diverse, and engaged team. The Consultant should be able to think strategically about Human Resources matters and assist JFK Law in developing a long-term vision for its staffing needs.
JFK Law is dedicated to working with Indigenous peoples in Canada and is committed to recruiting, retaining and advancing Indigenous employees. Experience in this area would be an asset.
The Consultant will work with the Principals to develop and implement: (1) a complete suite of appropriate HR policies; (2) an appropriate compensation system for employees; (3) associated training and mentorship programs; (4) onboarding and off-boarding programs; (5) effective and fair performance review processes; (6) accommodation and accessibility policies; and (7) an issues investigation and dispute resolution process. JFK Law expects that these policies and programs will be implemented with a view to developing an exceptional, diverse, and inclusive team of lawyers, administrators, and support staff.
The Consultant will be expected to maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality, and assist in resolving work place issues with sensitivity and discretion.
The Consultant will support JFK Law in its recruitment efforts and should be able to carry out activities associated with recruitment, such as preparing job postings, vetting applications, conducting screening interviews, and carrying out reference checks.
Structure: The position will be that of a consultant and the Consultant will not be an employee of JFK Law. Ideally the Consultant will bring a team of individuals with particular experience in the matters identified above.

Qualifications: Ideally, the Consultant would satisfy the following expectations:
- Professional certification in human resources management;
- An established track record as a consultant with at least 10 years’ experience;
- Experience working with law firms or professional service firms;
- Experience and/or training in developing and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion policies, programs and training;
- Experience in developing compensation structures; and
- Experience in developing performance review processes.
