ASSOCIATE LAWYER – INDIGENOUS PEOPLES’ RIGHTS AND ADVOCACY

 OKT LLP is currently seeking an Associate Lawyer with relevant experience and demonstrated commitment toIndigenous peoples’ self-determination and rights advocacy to join our practice at our Yellowknife office. 

We are a law firm dedicated to advancing justice for Indigenous peoples. Our firm serves Indigenous governments, organizations and individuals in a variety of practice areas, including Aboriginal and treaty rights litigation and negotiation, corporate law for Indigenous businesses (including acquisitions, financing, corporate governance, and renewable energy), labour and employment law, child welfare and Indigenous governance work, environmental and cultural protection, as well as representation at inquests and before tribunals.

Candidates should possess strong legal analytical and research skills and familiarity with the evolving modern treaties,Indigenous self-government and co-management regimes in the North. Negotiation skills would be an asset. The position may involve travel to clients’ communities across the North and elsewhere in Canada.
